A Traveler's Soul
The haunting sound of a deep train horn
-
echoed towards the west
-
confronting the cold autumn night
-
with a taunting howl.
-
And if I could jump onto a boxcar
-
and ride the tracks like
-
a fierce adventurer, I would.
-
Love and friendship hold me back.
-
Inside, my gypsy soul wants
-
nothing more than to
-
pass the days in motel rooms
-
and drive through the night
-
mentally recording city lights
-
that jump at my peripherals.

Road Trips and Stink Bugs
In dire need of a road trip
-
and pesticides.
-
Stink bugs have taken
-
over my balcony and
-
A night drive to the city
-
would banish all anxiety
-
I have towards them.
-
Chatting up homeless souls
-
sitting in rain puddles
-
down a dimly lit ally
-
would be better than
-
being surrounded by
-
foreign insects.
